Sailormoon:
Sailormoon started off as a simple show about a clumsy 14 year old girl
named Usagi who attended junior highschool in Japan. She met a talking cat, Luna, who gave her
a broach that would let her transform into the pretty soldier Sailormoon.
As the series progressed, Usagi made new friends who were also Sailorsenshi.
She had a crush on the local game center guy, as did many of her new friends
(ie. Makoto and Minako).
Throughout the first season, Sailormoon and the senshi had to
battle youma (demons) and the shitennou (the four generals) of the Dark Kingdom that was lead by Queen Metallia and
Queen Beryl. They do this with some help from Tuxedo Kamen (Chiba Mamoru), who Sailormoon
falls in love with (mainly because of the love they shared in the past).
As the senshi defeat each of the shitennou, they begin to realize more of their past
lives. Mamoru is captured and turned evil by the energy of the Dark Kingdom. This all comes to a climax when the senshi
are attacked by Kunzite on their way to the D-Point (the North Pole) and are transported to the moon through a
portal created by the Ginzuishou (silver crystal) on Sailormoon's Moon Stick.
On the Moon, in the ruins of the old Moon Kingdom, Sailormoon sees a tiny, sprite like version of
her past mother, Queen Serenity. Queen Serenity tells Sailormoon and the senshi about their
past lives and about the Silver Millenium when all the planets were in harmony. Serenity also tells them about the Dark Kingdom
and how the Princess (Sailormoon) was killed by Beryl. She explains that it was necessary for her to seal away the enemy and transport
everyone in the Moon Kingdom to Earth to be reincarnated in another time. Serenity had done all this using the last of her energy and the
silver crystal. Queen Serenity then disappears and the group transports back to the Arctic to continue on their way to the D-Point.
Finally, they approach the D-Point and must find the Dark Kingdom.
Before they do, however, they must first defeat each of five youma called the DD Girls. One by one, each of the senshi
sacrifice their own lives in battle in order for the others to be safe.
Soon, Sailormoon is alone and must battle Endymion (Mamoru) and Queen Beryl at the D-Point.
Sailormoon heals Endymion but then watches him die of a fatal blow from Beryl.
Beryl then transforms into Super Beryl with the help of Queen Metallia.
Sailormoon uses the Ginzuishou and the remaining energy from
the spirits of the other senshi to defeat Super Beryl and Queen Metallia.
The season ends with all the senshi reincarnated but with no memory
of all that had happened. They were happy and free once more.
Sailormoon R:
Sailormoon R is the sequel season to Sailormoon in which all the senshi
return once again to battle an evil force.
The R season begins with a story arc that was not presented in the
manga. The new enemies are Eil and Ann, two aliens born and raised from Makaiju (Hell Tree).
They blend in with the people from Earth using their human guises: Natsumi and Seijuurou Ginga.
With help from Eil's flute and a pack of Cardians, Eil and Ann steal
energy from the people of Earth to feed the Makaiju. As the senshi fight
each Cardian they recieve help from the mysterious Tsukikage no Knight (Moonlight Knight).
In the end of this story arc, Eil & Ann's love is revealed and Tsukikage no Knight is
returned to Mamoru's body.
The main story of the Sailormoon R season is about the future war for Crystal Tokyo.
There is also the arrival of a new character, Usagi's future daughter Chibiusa.
This season is longer and more drawn out the other
seasons. This is mainly due to the fact that there are so many enemies.
First off, one of the main enemies, Rubeous, tries to capture crystal points that will become future
Crystal Tokyo. To do this he recruits the ayakashi no yonshimai, the
four fake sisters. Each of the ayakashi no yonshimai recruit droids
of their own. It takes an extremely long time for the senshi to finally
defeat each droid and restore the good inside each of the sisters and
finally defeat Rubeous. Then, it's Esmerod's turn and she has droids of her
own. Then, another enemy, Wise Man, captures Chibiusa and turns her to the side of the
Black Moon (aka Nemesis). Chibiusa becomes the Black Lady. After all of this fighting and
the death of Saphir and Demand, the final battle between Wise Man (aka Death Phantom) begins.
Later, Chibiusa is brought back over to the good side by the love from her future parents
(Usagi & Mamoru). She then decides she will help Sailormoon in the fight. Together with Chibiusa and
the future silver crystal, Sailormoon and her silver crystal defeat the Jakokusuishou (wicked
dark crystal) and the Death Phantom in a giant pink glow.
Sailormoon Super:
This is the keystone season in the entire story of Sailormoon. It is the season in which all the
Silver Millenium Sailorsenshi are reunited. The season begins with Rei's premonition dream
of death and destruction, in which each of senshi's bodies were blown apart. The new enemy has arrived, Pharoh 90 has taken over the body of
Souichi Tomoe, and Mistress 9 has taken refuge in the body of Tomoe's daughter Hotaru.
Tomoe is in seach of pure hearts and Sailormoon's seihai (chalice) in order
to release Mistress 9 and Pharoh 90. Tomoe is aided in his mission by his band of loyal Witches and his assistant Kaolinite (Kaori).
The Witches are Eudial, Mimete, Tellu, Viluy, Cyprine, and Ptilol. Together, Tomoe, Kaolinite and the witches are known as the Death Busters.
The witches use daimons from the planet Tau-sei to attack pure na kokoro (pure heart) carriers.
Throughout
this season, Chibiusa forms a friendship with Hotaru. Chibiusa is constantly worried about Hotaru's health and well being.
As with the other seasons, Sailormoon and the senshi must defeat
all the enemies, in this case, the witches and their daimon. Throughout the episodes, Hotaru displays strange energy and power.
The senshi think nothing of it, but Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna feel the coming of a great evil force from Hotaru.
They even try to destroy her. Meanwhile, Rei has the same dream. This time, she sees a woman
holding a glaive. She is the messiah of silence. In the dream Rei sees the tarot card of death.
Rei feels evil energy getting stronger as Sailormoon aproaches her final battle
with Mistress 9 and Pharoh 90. In the final battle, Mistress 9 is released and she tricks
Sailormoon into giving her the seihai. In the end, Sailormoon cannot
transform into Supersailormoon. The other senshi, now battered and beaten by the daimon that surrounded the
building that was taken over by Tomoe, lend Sailormoon their power. Neptune and Uranus also
lend their power so that Sailormoon can transfom to Supersailormoon. Supersailormoon then destroys Mistress 9 and
Pharoh 90. Then Supersailormoon appears with a baby Hotaru in her arms.
Sailormoon SuperS:
This season begins within a dream.
Chibiusa is running through town, suddenly she finds herself in a forest and lake setting with crystals all around.
She sees a beautiful white pegasus and she reaches out to touch him. As she is reaching out, she transforms into her
princess dress and the Pegasus dissapears. Chibiusa is suddenly awakened by Usagi's loud voice
calling for her. All the girls, along with Motoki and Unazuki, meet at the park for the solar eclipse.
As the moon moves in front of the sun, a tent full of balloons appears and begins to desend to the
city. Usagi is the only one who seems to notice it. It is the Dead Moon Circus tent.
Almost immediatly we are introduced to the newest enemy, Zirconia. Zirconia recruits the Amazon Trio, three
cross-dressing circus animals turned human, to find the hiding place of the Pegasus. The three must find people with especially beautiful
dreams and look inside the victims dream mirrors for the Pegasus. As the Trio recruit several lemure to keep the senshi busy, they continue their search for the Pegasus.
This part of SuperS comes to a close when Sailormoon's beautiful dream inspires Fish Eye to combat the Dead Moon Circus. Soon all three of the
Amazon Trio realize that they were wrong to try and destroy such beautiful dreams. Finally, the Trio have dream mirrors of their own.
Next, Zirconia recruits the Amazoness Quartet. The Amazoness Quartet once lived in a rainforest on a distant planet.
They discovered the evil mirror of Nehelenia in a lake and were drawn into it. Their mission is to find the most beautiful dream; ultimately, the golden mirror hidden deep inside Chibiusa
(although they don't know Chibiusa has it until the end).
