The series Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon consists of 18 volumes. The series was published monthly (one chapter per issue) in Kodansha's Nakayoshi gekkan and later published in it's own volumes (of about four/five chapters per volume). The manga version has the same basic plot as the TV anime, but the similarity stops there; there are some major differences between the two. I'll be adding a section about the differences in a future update. I will also write summaries. Check back in a future update.

Summaries and cover scans will be up as soon as I have the time to do all that work.

Volume 1.

The first manga of Sailormoon follows the basics of the tv-anime episodes 1~25 of Sailormoon. Each chapter (or Act) is similar to each of the episodes in which each of the first four senshi become part of the sailorteam (except for when Sailorjupiter arrives).

In the first act, Usagi becomes Sailormoon after meeting Luna and receiving the special broach that allows her to transform. Her first mission is to save her friend Naru from an evil enemy that has taken on the form of Naru's mother, owner of the Osa-P Jewelry shop. Ami comes into the series right away in the second act. Usagi and Luna become suspicious that a new enemy is around when they find a strange disk that contains a message to brainwash anyone who listens to it's program. As in the anime, Usagi must battle the evil monster disguised as a human. Near the end of the act, Ami uses a pen she won from the Crown Game Center to transform into Sailormercury.

The third act is the chapter in which we meet Rei. Usagi, Ami, and Luna hear of the mysterious bus disappearances and go searching around for an answer. At the end of the act, Usagi and Rei are taken to a strange place under the earth where they must battle another monster. Ami transforms and follows them. Rei becomes Sailormars when Ami throws her a transformation pen and she kills Jedite. In the fourth act, the girls must attend a masquerade party to find out if a special diamond, which belongs to Princess D, is actually the Ginzuishou (silver crystal). During the party, Princess D is possessed by an evil spirit of Neflite, and she tries to escape the party with the diamond. When Usagi tries to stop her, she is pushed from the balcony, but Tuxedo Mask is there to rescue her (romantic ne~ ^.^). They float to the ground using Usagi's pen which transforms into a magnificent umbrella. In the end, after Neflite's "shadow" is defeated, the diamond turns out to be just a statue of Princess D.

In the last chapter of manga 1, act 5, Makoto transfers to Usagi's school. One day Makoto saves Usagi from being hit by a car as she crosses the street. This chapter is much different from the tv-anime. In the manga, the girls visit a bridal shop and are faced with an evil bride! Usagi uses her pen to transform into a groom! Makoto picks up the bride and throws her down. It's then that she transforms into Sailorjupiter and defeats Neflite. The last page shows Luna giving Usagi her Moon Stick.
