Power wo!" This is a quote from manga 15 of Sailormoon.    I'll begin with Mercury. Mercury's castle is called Mariner. The reason it is called Mariner castle is because Mercury (like Venus) has no moons, and the trend in this case, would have each senshi's castle named after a moon of their planet. The castle of Mercury was named after the Mariner 10 probe which was launched in 1974 and was the first Mercurian probe. It came to within 700 kilometers of Mercury's surface and helped to identify the topography and landscapes to be similar to Earth's moon.    Mars' castle is called Phobos Deimos castle. It was named after the two small moons of the planet Mars. Both words mean fear, Phobos as in phobic and Deimos is fear in Latin. Phobos also comes from Phoebus Apollon, the sun god. Deimos was the son of the god Ares.    Jupiter's castle is called Io castle. It is named after the 5th moon of Jupiter and is also the third largest of Jupiter's moons. The moon itself was named after one of the many wives of Zeus (Jupiter).    Venus' castle is called Magellan castle. Because Venus lacks moons (like Mercury), the castle had to be named after the Magellan probe. The Magellan probe was launched in 1989 to take radar images of the cloud enshrouded planet. The probe was named after Magellan, who sailed around the world.    Uranus' castle is called Miranda castle. It was named after the first moon of Uranus. The moon itself was named after the lead female role in Shakespeare's play, The Tempest.    Neptune's castle is called Triton castle. It was named after the first moon of Neptune. Triton was know as a god of the seas.    Pluto's castle is called Charon castle. It was named after Pluto's only moon. Charon was the name of the boatman who ferried the dead across the river Styx to the underworld domain of Pluto.    Saturn's castle is called Titan castle. It was named after the fourteenth moon of Saturn. It is also the largest of Saturn's moons. Titans were Greek warriors, the children of Uranus and Gaea. [ back ]
