In Greek mythology, the goddess moon is Selene. In mythology, the goddess moon, Selene, fell in love with a man from Earth named Endymion (hence Mamoru's name - Endymion). The moon is often connected with silver, hence Sailorchibimoon's Ginzuishou (Silver Crystal). Chibiusa's birth sign is Cancer, Cancer is the sign for the moon as well. The moon controls women, month cycles, motherhood, aging, and tides. This may be part of why Chibiusa's dream is to become a woman.
