I have always disliked English translations of manga. I dislike them for a number of reasons. The number one reason I dislike them is because most of the time, translators change the story by not translating exactly what is written. I know that nothing can be translated exactly. However, it seems to me, that many translators don't care, or that they were advised to change the story or edit out certain things. I have not changed anything in my translation. However, some things had to be altered slightly to be readable in the English language. An example of this is the title of chapter two, which reads "atashi aidoru yarimasu!?". atashi = I aidoru = idol yarimasu = doing This would be understood to mean "I doing Idol!?" However, this makes little sense in English, so I wrote it in the translation as "I'm going to be an Idol!?" Which makes sense in English and also retains the original meaning, but is not an exact translation. Also, I am constantly reading the translations. I do this to ensure there are no overlooked errors. If you notice an error in the translations, or an area of it you think may need some extra explanation, please wait a few days (and check it again later) before informing me of it. This way you do not have to waste time informing me of something I may correct the very next day. I will post a notice of any recent corrections in the update section. Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. I hope the translations helped you to understand this magical story. email any questions to: Natsuki (natsuki@sweetusagi.com or, back-up email: mint@ichigo.nu) |
